From Farm to Table
The program is a heritage culinary and wellness education
classes and workshops. It promotes health, nutrition, wellness among people
with African Immigrants and African descents by teaching how to prepare
plant-based African meals and enjoy delicious balanced meals made from scratch,
instructing ways to better understand the food traditions and diverse cultures
and cooking techniques, educate them about the healthy lifestyle change,
nutritional value of ethnic and specialty produce.
The two-hours length classes offer community members the
chance to sharpen their culinary skills and expand their knowledge of healthy
African foods. The classes are free and taught by a team of volunteer culinary
and nutritional educators. The class assistants and course coordinators assist
with the lessons, the shopping for groceries and the filling out of course
surveys.
