WHO IS LOUIS Diène FAYE?

My dad, Louis Diene Faye was the most influential person in my life. He was my best friend and my role model. He was multi-talented, a scholar, author, historian, theologist, essayist, anthropologist, songwriter, philanthropist and friends to many. LD Faye had authored several books and scientific papers and quoted by many scholars who interacted with him. He died on August 31, 2008, of complications from diabetes which stripped him of the ability to do what he loves most – writing, promoting arts, culture, history, heritage and helping others.
To celebrate his life, Louis Diene Faye Foundation was created in his honor to give back and to support individuals and organizations that share our common goals in using arts, to inspire, educate, connect, lead, bring unity and preserve a part of the riches and proud African arts, history, culture, heritage and to cultivate a deep understanding of many contributions that history has made to the world as well as increase mutual understanding for the benefit of building stronger communities..
My parents play a big role in the community in Dakar-Senegal. My dad was passionate about helping people. He had boundless energy and enthusiasm for making a difference in someone’s life.
As a child, I witnessed my role in helping the community. Our home was always open to others, and I often accompanied my parents on humanitarian visits. I was fueled by the desire to help others. My parents helped raise countless numbers of children who today are successful in their own rights. He taught me to give back at an early age. Growing up, I remembered during lunch and dinner delivering meals to at least 3 households (a day) to people who are homebound and unable to shop for their food or prepare their own meals.
His love to inspire humanity, his commitment to the arts and his community inspires her daughter Chef Marie Joe Faye to dedicate The Louis Diene Faye Foundation to his hard work and family commitment.
